 "NICE DAY", FEATURED IN PRE-SHOW MUSIC FOR THE OFF BROADWAY PLAY "GRUESOME INJURIES"
Our friends Gwendolyn and Brandon Jay composed music for an off broadway play that opened this week at the 2nd StageTheatre called Gruesome Playground Injuries. The play stars Dexter's Jennifer Carpenter, and The Wire's Pablo Schreiber.
They also put together the pre-show music, which contains Persephone's Bees' Nice Day. If you go see the play you'll be hearing P's Bees!

After 10 years in the Bay Area, Persephone's Bees recently relocated to NYC and they're bringing their edgy pop sounds to WFMU for your enjoyment. The vocals of Russian-born lead singer Angelina Moysov fall somewhere between the Cardigans and Komeda, according to the Onion A/V Club -- who also described their music as "instantly likeable." Hear them for yourselves Wednesday the 17th at 9pm on the Evan "Funk" Davies show, and maybe you'll hear their Status Quo cover. And keep an eye out for their third LP, coming soon.
 PERSEPHONE'S BEES TWIST ONE UP WITH SHOWTIME'S ACCLAIMED SERIES - "WEEDS"
Fans of the Showtime series "Weeds" know that a different musician records the theme song, "Little Boxes" by Malvina Reynolds, for every episode. Persephone's Bees add their own twist to the song on Season 3 Episode 12 - entitled "The Dark Time."
